Sherlock to Win

When placing a bet it is good to know the odds,
To know how healthy a horse is helps a man lay his hard earned money down.
"All I have and who I am on Sherlock to win!" He said, "That horse eats well!"
He later stands pale faced and ruined as Sherlock's leg bends and snaps in half out of the starting gate,
All he has and who he is, let ride on an educated guess.
And all that knowledge,
All of that reason,
Martyred and resented and made valueless,
made to be something random.
Boats in oceans,
and cities on fault lines,
They make no sense
With all the precision and calculation that goes into their making,
and we are left with an educated guess,
A guess that makes fools of all of us when see Sherlock's leg snap
And we have bet all we have and who we are to win.
